Mission & Goals
- Provide participants with a player-focused collegiate summer league experience without sacrificing physical development.
- Create a Summer schedule that is conducive to our primary mission (4 – 5 games a week) while maintaining a traditional college Summer league atmosphere
- Provide players with elite coaches, training, facilities (mixture of professional fields, Gardens Park (Cressey Training Facility), & local high schools)
- Players will be exposed to nutritional / training seminars with option to train with national leaders in player development – Cressey Sports Performance
Causes for Action
- After 60 game Spring seasons, players continue to wear themselves down throughout Summer with intense schedules
- Currently players are essentially forced to choose between no summer baseball in exchange for physical development or traditional summer leagues to improve baseball skills
- Many leagues place players at risk with inadequate implementation of pitch count regulations in Summer (Highest rates of TJ today than ever before)
- Academics take back seat to baseball careers due to demanding Summer schedules
- Long bus rides, absence of strength coaches and physical trainers
League Direction
- 2020 will mark the fourth year of the CLPB, and with this we plan on expanding to 8 teams
- League will attract many local and out of state D1, D2, JUCO, NAIA players
- Ultimately, grab attention of and draw top draft prospects who see value in league vision (physical development combined with professional arm care)
League Structure
- 8 Teams (This is an increase of two teams from the 2019 season)
- Each team will involve following structure:
- Head Coach
- Pitching Coach
- Cressey Sports Performance Intern
- Sports Management Interns
- 25 Man Roster
